New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, 224km from Agra, is the closest to this romantic city. The excellent Yamuna Highway ensures a smooth journey that takes only three to four hours.
Three major railway stations – Agra Cantonment Station, Agra Fort and Raja ki Mandi – connect Agra by train to the rest of India. The exotic Palace on Wheels, the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels and the Buddhist Special Train, also all halt at Agra.
Agra is well connected by road to the rest of India. The interstate bus terminals are Idgah Bus Stand, located in the centre of the city, and ISBT, which is about 12km from the Taj Mahal. Daily buses ply between Agra and New Delhi, Lucknow, Gwalior, Kanpur and Lucknow.
Agra is 224km and under four hours away from New Delhi via the Yamuna Expressway. National Highways 2, 3 and 11 connect Agra to other major cities like Lucknow, Jaipur, Gwalior and Kanpur.
